The Importance of Community

Friday, June 07, 2013
“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” - Winston Churchill There are plenty of old sayings about how everyone and everything is connected - the ripple in a pond effect…web of life, etc. Why are there so many well known sayings on this subject and why have they been around for as long as they have? It’s because there is truth to them. Every entity – person, organization, corporation – plays a role within at least

Cavity Free at Three

Friday, March 15, 2013
Who wants to go to the dentist? No one. That’s who. It’s because often times, seeing the dentist involves pain. However, we can intervene in our patients’ lives by educating families on the importance of routine dental maintenance before any dental work is required. By encouraging simple lifestyle changes, we can enhance the relationships between patients and their dental providers, thus improving their overall health. We’re in a unique position to capture the attenti

Doctors Care is excited to announce our partnership with the Colorado Health Foundation in the Colorado KaleidosCOpe project. We were recently awarded a $5000 donation for submitting a video to their project, a statewide storytelling campaign designed to shine a bright light on the good work of their grantee partners and the people whose lives they impact. Through this project, Colorado KaleidosCOpe hopes to spark the conversation of how the Colorado non-profit community provides much-need

The Gratefuls

Friday, December 07, 2012
It’s that time of year where we all start to get a case of “the gratefuls.” The truth is I wish it didn’t take a holiday to remind us of how much we all have to be grateful for. Many of us have our own personal safety-net of family and friends, our health and a safe place to call home. For that alone we should feel fortunate. But on top of that, here at Doctors Care we can be grateful to have a job, one in which we help to be the safety-net for some who don’t. W

Recently, I had the opportunity to edit a video featuring all of the patients that we served in our most recent photo project. This video was specifically put together to thank our amazing friend and photographer, Dr. Richard Steckel. It was a complete joy for me to sift through all of the clips of our parents and children in search of the perfect moments for this video. Care to watch it? Take a look below! Health in Action - Beyond the Classroom

Tuesday, September 25, 2012
Leaving my job with a small non-profit in the Dominican Republic to pursue a master’s degree in Global Health, I was prepared to trade practical experience for academic ponderings, and a job I was passionate about for whatever would help pay the rent. More importantly, it’s a posi

Random Acts of Giving

Monday, July 23, 2012
Random acts of giving are everyday occurrences at Doctors Care. And the “giving” takes form in a variety of gratifying ways. For example, volunteers, who are heavily involved in day-to-day business at Doctors Care, generously give time, experience and patience in helping staff and patients. Medical providers consistently give expert care to those in need, with added doses of compassion. Staff members are quick to give aid and cooperation to each other on difficult tasks, complicated
