Doctors Care is a part of our community and our staff love being integrated health caregivers and a family medical home to our neighbors. Since our clinic now has Electronic Health Records, we have a wealth of data for statistical analysis which allows us to discover trends about our patients. The most important piece of data to me, as the Director of Practice Management, is how new patients find us and where we could enhance our outreach efforts in the community.

The eClinicalWorks Patient Portal lets patients communicate with their doctor and other providers, and access important information over the Internet. Soon Doctors Care will begin sending patients reminders, education materials, and lab results electronically. My job as Database Specialist took a very fortunate turn when the organization implemented an electronic health records system last fall. The new system is so comprehensive, technical specialists (like me) were needed to train and support our providers. I've always been interested in statistics, but some may wonder.... "Why are statistics important?" And to that I say:
1. At Doctors Care, statistics assist the Behavioral Health Team (BHT) understand the diversity of patients that we see. Many have challenging histories of past traumas or current substance abuse issues. Why Am I Here?

About a year ago, I was at a point in my life that I knew I wanted to make a difference but was not sure how or where. Then I started to volunteer at Doctors Care with the hope and desire to make a positive impact in the lives of the less fortunate. Patience, Persistence, Perseverance

What is “HIT”?

HIT, or Health Information Technology, is a blanket term for many types of technology and software that are used in the health care and insurance industries. For Doctors Care, HIT refers specifically to two new software systems: eClinicalWorks and Plexis Care Management software.
