Life Transformation - A Volunteer Story

Friday, October 24, 2014
When I applied to Doctors Care for a volunteer position, I didn’t know what to expect. I interviewed with Doctors Care’s Volunteer Manager, Sharon Fisher. I was battling severe depression at the time and only tried to volunteer because it was suggested to me by my therapist. It was something I really didn’t want to do, but Sharon’s warm personality made me feel welcome and desired as a potential volunteer. I also strongly supported the Doctors Care mission and 4 Core

If you take out the politics, the answer becomes simple. If you, a loved one, a co-worker or a neighbor gets sick or develops an illness, we all agree the answer is to seek treatment. I don&

A Place to Call Home

Thursday, July 17, 2014
During my third year of medical school, I found myself walking through the doors of the Doctors Care clinic for my pediatric clerkship. I knew very little about Doctors Care except that my clinical coordinator sent me there to train because he said it was a good fit for me. I figured that with a slogan like accessible care for the underserved, he was probably right. I noticed a picture in the hallway during my orientation tour and exclaimed, “Oh look, Dr. VanderArk!” I knew
